Auditions/Tryouts

Auditions are listed with our production dates on our schedule page.  Please come at the specified hour and plan on staying for about an hour and a half. If you are unable to make it to tryouts, please contact the director prior to the tryout date to see if something else can be arranged (not always possible) You can also contact us at mantorvilletheatre@yahoo.com

No experience necessary: just a flair for the (melo)dramatic!

Call for Directors

We are seeking directors (and possibly playwrights) for our 2009-2010 season.

Watch this space for specific deadlines for applications.

Prospective Directors, please also submit 1 to 3 titles of shows that you would like to direct that you think would work well for our format and stage. If the show is original, please include a synopsis. Although every rule was meant to be broken, we would like to fit in our season, as follows:

June through September: Our summer melodrama program, with four separately directed shows each beginning three weeks after the previous one.

Late October - Early November: Our "wild card" slot - We've done plays that are mysteries, ghost stories, full musicals, comedy, whatever. It will play for three weekends on Friday and Saturday evenings. Depending on the show we and our chosen director select, the schedule may be enhanced to include Sunday matinee performances, as well.

Late November - Early December:  Traditionally a holiday oriented, family oriented production, sometimes musical and sometimes not, opening the Friday of Thanksgiving weekend and playing Friday, Saturday, Sunday for three weekends.

February: A romantic comedy playing for three weekends on Friday and Saturday evenings.

April: A farce or similarly raucous comedy playing three weekends on Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons

Volunteers!

We're always looking for helpers with lights and set construction. Leave your name and number on our box office phone (507-635-5420) and we'll try to contact you - or come to tryouts and let us know your interests!

There are many dozens of odd jobs that are in want of enterprising volunteers. Do you like to paint? build stuff? tear stuff apart? organize fabric? make scrapbooks? 2-3 times a year we get together for an "Opera House Party" and we'd be happy to include you if you let us know your interests.

Free Shows! If you would be willing to take tickets, hand out programs, and help with intermissions, we have need of volunteers to act as hosts for our shows. In return, you get to see the show!

INTERESTED IN HELPING TO DESIGN OUR NEXT SEASON?

The MTC is looking for a few interested people to serve on our Board of Directors or on one of our volunteer committees. "Interest" is the primary skill required - no experience necessary! Our Board meets monthly during the "off" season to plan out the next season and help set long term goals for the Theatre. If you have an interest, please contact our business manager at mantorvilletheatre@yahoo.com.
